HANK C.BURNETTE – A Touch Of Memphis [2001]

.

“Hank C. Burnette, with his real name, Sven Oke Hagberg, is a Swedish guitarist and singer specializing in rockabilly (especially instrumental). In 1960, his family moved to Oxel-sund. Failing to find musicians, he moved to a recording studio to self-produce as a multi-instrumentalist, began recording standards of rock ‘n’ roll and took the name Hank C. Burnette, in honor of Hank Williams for the first name, Chet Atkins for “C”, and Johnny Burnette for the name. In 1967 he signed with the American label Blue Horizon. In late 1976, he produced the album “Don’t Mess With My Ducktail” for Sonet and obtained an international reputation with the instrumental title Spinning Rock Boogie.” [wiki]

I just recently found this crazy swedish dude a multi-instrumentalist, one man band you can hear on several Surfadelic Rockabilly Explosion comps, and now here’s his 2001. compilation (I think?!) with many covers of rockabilly classics and some originals. Hank C. became one of my favorite r-billy revivalists and psychobilly pioneers. >>> Bop Bop Baby!
