THE DEEJAYS – Surfadelic Collection [UK 60’s Freakbeat]

The-Deejays A

The Deejays were London beat group very popular in Sweden (thanks to Roland Ferneborg manager of The Spotnicks) where they recorded most of their singles and two LPs for Polydor and Hep House records from 1963-68. They played many R&B/Beat covers as I’m A Hog For You Baby, Dimples, Farmer John, I Just Can’t Go To Sleep, Long Tall Shorty, I Can Tell, In The Midnight Hour, Tobacco Road, Gloria, Summertime Blues… but also some fine originals as raw freakbeat tunes Blackeyed Woman, You Must Be Joking, Not That Girl, What’ Cha Tryin’ To Do, Strong Love, Time And Time Again, Incrowd Hangout or cool psychedelics like flexi single Inside My Mind or Stripped Dreams from their ’67 LP ”Haze

I’m in the mood for some Freak-Beat lately, so I made a collection of this UK group’s 60’s recordings, singles & lp trax, trying to avoid their pop flavored stuff in favor of their more hard-edge R&B/Beat tunes. I’ve made a Surfadelic choice of material so it must be rockin’n’rollin’ alright! Dig !!!
