THE SPOONS [90’s Garage Rock Revival]

Complete re-post of this Croatian garage rockers discography. Formed in late 80’s in Pula, they started with their own brand of 60’s garage punk rock and gained somethin’ of a cult status. Influenced by such garage acts as Lyres, Fuzztones, Dead Moon, The Stooges, The Seeds, The Sonics they just can’t do wrong. Their ‘classic’ first two albums [my favs] ’91. ”Voxin” and ’94. ”Web Of Fuzz” featured all great original tunes [unlike most of 60’s garage revival acts].

On ”Strychnine”, collection of unissued ’93/’94 stuff, you got cool covers of some of their favorite garage tunes originally performed by The Sonics, Moving Sidewalks, Litter, Love, Human Beinz, 13th Floor Elevators etc. With new line-up they recorded their 3rd album ”Supervoxin” in ’95. The sound gets more sophisticated here but it feels as somethin’ of their previous magic and edge were lost. Anyway here you got some fine originals like You Better Run, Kicks, Solar Machine and Mysterious Way. Also, as there are few covers of 60’s garage classics like L.S.D., Strychnine and Love’s legendary instro Emotions.

Again reformed In 1999. they issued their final album ”Here Are The Spoons” they are back to primal garage sound of The Kinks, Pretty Things, The Wailers, with cool tunes as ”Motorvation”, ”Bell Above Us”, ”Gotta Get My Fee” and fine covers of ”Rainin’ In My Heart” and ”Dirty Robber”. ”Take The World As It Comes” is very first garage recording ’88 session issued as Lp in 2002, with the originalline-up [Brunetto Subiotto on vocals]. This is pre-debut Lp stuff, almost all covers of classic garage tunes. So now, check this stuff below, it’s a must for fans of 60’s garage revival and others. Dig!!!
