”Thee Headcoats Sect, a creature with the body of a beast and the hat of a gentleman.”
Already have posted these two slabs, my favorites from 90s garage punk revival and here they are again. Logical & natural, almighty colaboration between the Downliners Sect and their ‘modern days’ garage punk counterparts Thee Headcoats must be a ‘dreams come true’ event for fans of raw r&b/punk sound. And it is!
’96 Lp “Deerstalking Men” is a perfect junction of 60’s The Sonics/Downliners Sect garage rock sound and Thee Headcoats raw punk rumble with faithful remakes of classics as Strychnine, The Witch, Baby What’s Wrong, Why Don’t You Smile Now and probably best versions of some old Billy Chilish/Headcoats/Mighty Caesars tunes like My Dear Watson, Troubled Times, Cowboys Are Square, Lie Detector, I’m A Gamekeeper. Second album “Ready Sect Go!” is kinda spectacular tribute to R&B classics as Howlin’ Wolf, Slim Harpo, Bo Diddley, Muddy Waters… a must for garage blues aficionados and others. ‘Elementary my dear Watson’, Dig!!!
