THE ELIMINATORS – Liverpool, Dragsters, Cycles & Surfing [’64] / Guitars And Percussion [’66]

Again two different ’60s groups with the same name. The Eliminators of “Liverpool, Dragsters, Cycles & Surfing” was a US band, probably a Liberty records studio project with leon russell as arranger. They tried to cash in on popular trands as beat music, hot rod and surf. The lp opens with The Beatles covers, then slips into some Beach Boys/Jan & Dean style hot rod songs and some solid instrumentals.

On the other side are the UK Eliminators with their ’66 all-instro lp. This pretty interesting, mostly-covers, lounge slab starts out with cool fuzzed-out version of surf classic Wipe Out [there’s also a fine psychedelicized take on Pipeline], then there’s fine covers of Satisfaction, Land Of A Thousand Dances and some TV themes. All in all, I would give my vote to The Eliminators 🙂  Dig !!!
