Wailers-Livewire1

”The true originators of garage punk,
the Sonics’ first inspiration,
ladies and gents, here are THE WAILERS”

From Pacific Northwest, Tacoma, Washington came probably the very first garage band in history. The Wailers formed in 1958. as five piece instro-rock band by the mid 60’s they evolved in full blown garage rock gang. Performing saxophone-driven R&B and Chuck Berry, Little Richard rock & roll, they influenced such NW acts as The Ventures, The Sonics or The Kingsmen. They were the first to cover legendary Richard Berry song “Louie, Louie” in 1961. issued as first single on their own label Etiquette Records. You should already be familiar with killer tunes as fuzzed-out “Hang Up”, “Out Of Our Tree”, “Dirty Robber” later covered by The Sonics, DMZ, The Cramps, Mummies…  “Livewire” is kinda ‘best of’ collection of trax recorded from ’65-’67, mostly picked from their ’66 LP “Out Of Our Tree”. Surfadelic edition has 6 more trax and enchanced sound quality. So here you go with 22 trax of primal 60’s garage wailin’. Dig!!!
